Running since 1995, the Cahersiveen Music and Arts Festival takes over the town every August bank holiday weekend.
The programme mixes three nights of headline music with daytime street entertainment, dance displays and trad sessions that spill out of the pubs along Main Street. It is deliberately broad rather than a single-genre festival, and it is aimed at all ages.
Cahersiveen is a natural overnight stop on the western side of the Ring, so the festival weekend is a good one to build a trip around, provided you book accommodation early. It is also the weekend the town is least sleepy, which is worth knowing either way.
