Do not swim at Ballinskelligs: sewage release closes the beach for three days
Kerry County Council has a bathing prohibition notice on Ballinskelligs beach after an uncontrolled release of sewage into the stream at the north end. It went up on Monday 17 August and is expected to last three days.

A Waterville brewery just won Ireland's best wood-aged beer
McGill's took gold at the World Beer Awards for An Coirean, its barrel-aged imperial stout, and a silver for Puffin Island. The brewery is on the N70 a couple of kilometres north of Waterville, and it runs tours.

Campaigners have renewed their call to take the goat out of Puck Fair. Either way it is worth knowing that since 2023 King Puck is raised only briefly after his coronation and again on the closing day.
