A complimentary tour of The Lansdowne in Kenmare during Heritage Week, led by Patrick Hanley, covering the hotel, the Lansdowne Estate and how the town grew around them.
It is a family tradition as much as a hotel one. Patrick's parents, Bobby and Breda Hanley, welcomed visitors to Kenmare for decades and ran their own tours from the Lansdowne Arms from the 1970s onwards. Bobby's involvement with the town went well beyond the building, through his work with the Kenmare Development Association.
The tour begins inside the hotel with the stories in its own walls, then moves out to the estate and the development of Kenmare itself, from the people who lived and worked there to what the building has seen.
