Where
Portmagee
Portmagee turns out for its annual coastal rowing regatta, a day of racing in the channel between the village and Valentia Island. 2026 is the centenary year.
The pier is the centre of it. Crews from clubs across Kerry race off the quay while the village pubs and the harbour front fill up behind them, and the racing runs through the afternoon.
Portmagee is the jumping-off point for the Skellig boats and the far end of the Skellig Ring, so a regatta Sunday is a good day to be here anyway. Parking on the pier road goes early; leave the car at the top of the village and walk down.
