Four distances on one of the most exposed and most beautiful stretches of the Skellig coast: a full marathon, a half, a 10km and a 5km. The marathon and half are single-lap courses, which on this coastline means you are not doubling back over the same scenery, and everything finishes on Ballinskelligs Beach.
Skellig Michael is in view from parts of the route when the weather allows, which reads as marketing until you are actually out there in October.
For anyone not running, the practical note is the useful one. This is a late-October Sunday on narrow coast roads west of Waterville with a field spread across four distances, so if you are driving that side of the Ring that morning you will meet runners, and the marathon field will still be out well into the afternoon.
