Heritage Week at Muckross
Monday 17 to Sunday 23 August 2026. The craft demonstrations run 1:30pm to 4:30pm on weekdays; the weekend events start earlier.
Runs every year
For Heritage Week the Trustees of Muckross House put a working craftsman in the Schoolhouse at Muckross Traditional Farms every afternoon, and let you watch them work. It is the single best week of the year to visit if you want the estate as a living place rather than a house tour.
The pattern is the same every year: one craft a day on the weekdays, 1:30pm to 4:30pm, and a wider mix at the weekend that starts earlier and is built for families. This year's line-up is below.
Everything is free and suitable for families, which is unusual for Muckross in August. The farms are a short walk from Muckross House itself, so a demonstration slots neatly into a visit rather than replacing one. Check the National Heritage Week listings for booking, as some sessions cap numbers.
