The Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle sends roughly 6,000 riders around the entire 170 km loop in a single day, starting and finishing in Killarney and passing through Killorglin, Cahersiveen, Waterville and Kenmare.

It is a non-competitive charity ride rather than a race, fully supported with food stops and mechanical help. Roads stay open to traffic, which is the part that matters if you are here to drive rather than cycle.

If your Ring of Kerry drive falls on cycle day, plan around it. The loop carries a continuous stream of riders for most of the daylight hours, overtaking is slow and awkward on the narrow western stretches, and the towns are busy at both ends of the day. Either pick a different day, or drive clockwise against the flow and start late.
