Kenmare Pier Road closed for the Lost Sheep triathlon on 29 August
Kerry County Council has now formally decided the road closure in Kenmare for the Lost Sheep triathlon, so the date is fixed rather than proposed.
Pier Road is closed from 7am to 4.30pm on Saturday 29 August 2026, along its whole length from the junction with the N71 down to the pier. The pier end becomes the race transition area, so it is closed to traffic and parking for the day. Local access stays open for residents and emergency services, and the diversions are signposted.
The race is a middle-distance triathlon organised by Cork Triathlon Club, and the bike leg runs out along the southern side of the Ring of Kerry. Expect cyclists on that stretch through the morning.
The same day carries the Hardman long-course triathlon in Killarney, so both ends of the loop are busy with riders at once. If you were planning to drive the Ring on 29 August, it is worth shifting by a day.
